NWFP sacks AAG over sugar crisis
By Akhtar Amin
PESHAWAR: The NWFP government on Monday terminated the services of the province’s Additional Advocate General Ikramullah Khan.
The NWFP chief minister sacked Khan, replacing him with Naveed Akhtar.
Khan told reporters he represented the NWFP in the Supreme Court on October 23 on the NWFP advocate general’s directions. He said the SC had expressed dissatisfaction over the provincial chief secretary’s failure to ensure sugar sale at Rs 40 per kg.
“This led to my sacking as the chief secretary told the CM I failed to defend the provincial government in the SC,” Khan alleged. “I couldn’t give false information to the court. I said the provincial administration had not implemented the announced price of sugar. I have been sacked for my honesty.”
